This weekend, May 2nd and 3rd in Mission Viejo is the 11th annual Street Painting Festival. “The two-day festival features re-creations of the Old Masters and original works, all by noted artists and all created on asphalt.”
The festival is held from 10am - 5pm at the Norman P. Murray Community & Senior Center at 24932 Veterans Way in Mission Viejo & offerslive street painting, entertainment, art workshops & food. Admission & parking are FREE.

Visit the San Juan Capistrano Library for the Family Film Feature , showing Madagascar 2: Escape 2 Africa on Saturday, May 2nd at 11:00 am.
This sequel brings back loveable New York Zoo animals, Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo. Still stranded in Madagascar, they manage to leave the island only to land in the wilderness of Africa. There, Alex meets the rest of his family, but has trouble communicating after his time at the Central Park Zoo in this hilarious animated adventure. Discovery Science Center Future Scientists and Engineers of American invites you to join the challenge to design, build, and launch a rocket made from a 2-liter plastic soda bottle that uses a combination of pressurized air and water for propulsion. The competition will consist of creating and launching a rocket that will deploy a parachute. The person with the longest “hang time” in the air wins! Let’s see just how smart you are!
The grand prize winner will be invited to a real rocket launch at Vandenberg Air Force Base. This year, there will be three flight brackets with awards: 9 am - 10:30 am; 10:30 am - 12:00 pm and 12:00 pm - 1:40 pm. The grand prize announcement will be held at 2:00 pm.

The staff at Starr Ranch Sanctuary, a 4000-acre nature preserve east of Dove Canyon and Coto de Caza, invites you to join us on Saturday, May 2 from 9 am to 1 pm for our biannual “Family Nature Workshops.”
We invite you and your family to experience first-hand the beauty of wilderness in our rapidly urbanizing county and to learn together during workshops and walks offered by our staff, guest biologists, and docents that will include: Cougars, Bobcats, and Coyotes!, Hawk Research, Mountain Lion Research in Orange County, Starr Ranch Ecosystems (during a truck ride around the Ranch) Plant Walk, Reptiles and Amphibians of Orange County, and Nature Walks.
Admission is free, but by RESERVATION ONLY. Space is limited, so to ensure a spot, make your reservations soon. Each person chooses two programs during the 9 am sign-up. Programs are available on a first come first serve basis. Tables will be available for picnic lunches. No pets are allowed. Rain cancels.
